Billy Wynter
Lives and works in Penzance.
Born in Zennor in 1962, Billy Wynter studied on the Foundation course at Falmouth College of Art, 1981 to 1982, and took a degree in Fine Art at Middlesex Polytechnic, 1982 to 1985.
He worked as a painter, based in Penzance and exhibiting locally and nationally. From the early nineties he became involved with community art projects through the Cornwall-based Kneehigh Theatre, particularly in the making of large processional images for street festivals, and shifted from a general emphasis on two-dimensional work to three-dimensional. In the last ten years he has built three camera obscuras situated in Cornwall, and has been working on sound installations and building kinetic sculptures to use and explore the movement of wind through and over landscape. He describes himself as a community artist who ‘likes to explore less trodden paths.’
